With a secondhand batch freezer, a rented roadside building, and recipes tested at their kitchen table, they served their first cone on a warm June afternoon to a line of twenty neighbors. They ran out of strawberry by noon.
More than a decade later, the Holloways are still behind the counter — joined now by their daughter Meg and a crew of local teenagers who return season after season. What started as a summer experiment has become a true Apple Creek institution, drawing families from three counties who plan their summer weekends around a trip to the creamery. The building has been expanded twice, but the spirit hasn't changed a bit.
Our mission has always been simple: use the best local ingredients we can source, make everything with care, and give every guest the feeling of a warm summer afternoon with nowhere to be. We partner with Miller Family Dairy just eight miles north for our cream, and we source berries and fruit from orchards right here in Wayne County throughout the growing season.
We believe ice cream is more than a treat — it's a memory in the making. Every waffle cone, every sundae, every hand-packed quart carries a little bit of our family into yours. We're endlessly grateful for the thousands of guests who have made Apple Creek Creamery part of their summer story, and we look forward to many more seasons together.
